Who we are
Hatsembly is a Shopify app for shops that sell leather patch hats. It is operated by StackSembly ("we", "us"). This policy covers the Hatsembly app and this website, hatsembly.com. Questions about it go to service@hatsembly.com.
When a merchant installs Hatsembly, the merchant decides what to sell and to whom; for their shoppers' information, the merchant is in charge and we process it on the merchant's behalf.
What we collect from merchants
- Store details from Shopify: your store's address (yourstore.myshopify.com) and the access key Shopify gives the app when you install it. We don't store the names or email addresses of your staff.
- What you make in the app: hat models and colorways, patch colors, folders, product designs, settings, and the link between each design and its Shopify product.
- Files you upload: hat photos, patch artwork, fonts, backgrounds, and the pictures Hatsembly renders from them.
The app asks Shopify for permission to manage products, files, and the metafields and metaobjects that carry product details; to read your theme, so it can tell you which setup steps are done; to read your locations; to read orders, so it can keep the pictures of hats your customers ordered; and to add the built-hat picture at checkout on Shopify Plus.
What we collect about your shoppers
Shoppers meet Hatsembly only on your product page, cart, and order. For them, Hatsembly keeps:
- The choices they make on the product page (hat model, hat color, leather color) and any text they type for the hat.
- A logo, if they upload one, and the version of it prepared for the patch.
- A picture of the hat they built.
- For orders that contain a Hatsembly product: the order number, the item and variant ordered, the quantity, and the leather color, so the pictures stay with the order for production.
Hatsembly does not store shoppers' names, email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses, or payment details. Shopify keeps those, under your store's own privacy policy.
How we use it
- To run the app: build your products, draw them on your storefront, and show orders with their pictures.
- To answer your support requests.
- To keep the service secure and working, and to fix problems.
We don't sell personal information, share it for advertising, or use your files or your shoppers' logos for anything other than your store.
Who processes it for us
- Shopify: the platform the app runs on, and where your products and orders live.
- Railway: hosts the app and its database.
- Microsoft Azure: stores uploaded and rendered files in private storage.
- Kie.ai: removes the background from pictures you send it from the app, such as your hat photos. Shoppers' logos are never sent to it.
- Hostinger: hosts this website and our email.
Each provider processes the information only to provide its service to us.
How long we keep it
- While the app is installed: everything above is kept so your products keep working, until you delete it in the app.
- After you uninstall: your data stays for 48 hours, so reinstalling within that time loses nothing. Then Shopify asks us to erase your store, and we delete everything Hatsembly holds for it: product designs, library files, hat photos, shoppers' logos, and pictures. Products already on Shopify stay on Shopify.
- When a shopper asks to be erased: when you erase a customer in Shopify, Shopify tells us which orders were theirs, and we delete the logos and built-hat pictures for those orders.
- Data requests: when a shopper asks you what is held about them, Shopify forwards the request to us, and we send you what Hatsembly holds for their orders.
How we protect it
Files are kept in private storage. Your storefront can reach only the files that a published product uses, and a shopper's logo only through their own cart and order, using links that expire. All traffic to the app and to this website is encrypted (HTTPS).
This website
hatsembly.com sets no cookies, runs no analytics or advertising, and loads nothing from other companies. When you send the contact form, your name, email, store address, and message are emailed to our service mailbox and kept there to answer you. Like every web host, Hostinger records visitors' IP addresses in server logs for security.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to service@hatsembly.com or using the contact form. Depending on where you live, privacy laws such as the GDPR or California's CCPA may give you further rights; we honor them. Shoppers should start with the store they bought from, since the store decides how their information is used.
Children
Hatsembly is a tool for businesses and is not directed at children.
Changes
When we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change affects how merchants' data is used, we tell installed merchants before it takes effect.
